  • Selfie sticks, tripods, and drones: Selfie sticks, tripods, and drones are not allowed unless you have a special permit for professional use.
  • Large bags and backpacks: Only small backpacks (up to 20 liters) are permitted. Larger bags must be stored in lockers near the entrance.
  • Food and beverages: Food, alcoholic beverages, and glass bottles are prohibited. Visitors are encouraged to avoid leaving any litter in the area.

Behavior Guidelines

  • Respect for structures: Touching or leaning on walls, columns, or ancient structures is strictly forbidden, as they are fragile and irreplaceable.
  • No running or loud noises: Running, shouting, or engaging in any activity that disrupts the peace is not allowed.
  • No costumes or conspicuous accessories: Costumes, wedding attire, conspicuous accessories, or banners are not permitted, as they can interfere with other visitors' experiences and the site's preservation.

Photography and Filming Regulations

  • Professional photos: Commercial photography requires a special permit, and eye-catching clothing or promotional materials are not allowed.
  • No bulky equipment: To prevent damage and disruption, large or professional camera equipment is only permitted with prior authorization.

Guide Requirements

Guides recommended: Although not mandatory for all visitors, it is recommended to visit Machu Picchu with an authorized guide, especially on the first visit. Guides provide valuable historical insights and help protect the site.

These restrictions ensure a safe and respectful experience for visitors while helping to preserve Machu Picchu for future generations.
